leftover Shortcrust pastry

I've just made dinner and i have some left over short crust pastry, does anyone know if i can use this to make some sort of dessert

    Yes, like bling, that's what we would do (nice blob of custard on top and call it pudding :D )

    You don't have to use jam, you could use marmalade, lemon curd or even any mincement lurking from last Christmas.

    Do you have any fruit in your fruit bowl that needs using up? Make a small pie and just use the trimmings as a top for the fruit.

    If you don't want to make 'tarts', make a pastry roll up, bake and slice it; fill it with any of the above ideas or maybe, if you have some tinned fruit lurking in the pantry, fill it with that.

    Hi

    I've just be making a couple of quiches, one to freeze the other for tonight, but still have pastry left. Don't want to chuck it as it would be a complete waste. Any ideas?

    I always make jam-tarts with the leftover when making quiches, how much pastry do you have left?

    Depending on how much there is of course but I always make my OH a fruit or jam turnover with leftover pastry.. just roll out into a circle add some jam or sliced apple wet the edges with water and seal together use a little milk to wash over the pastry and I sprinkle a little brown sugar over and bake only takes about 15mins serve with cream or custard or wrap in greaseproof for a tasty lunchtime snack...

    Can I be really cheeky and ask for your quiche recipe please.

    I love bakewell tart, as an idea for left over pastry.

    Thanks for the ideas - think I'll be going with jam tarts, at least that will entertain the kids for a while, its already feeling like a long half term.


    moodkerry - my receipe is a bit adhoc, nothing weighed or measured - my cooking all over a bit, probably why I've got left over pastry!!!! Anyway, I'll try for you,

    Pastry - plain flour, marg and water.
    Filling - well that tends to be any veg I have, todays is courgettes sliced, french peas sliced small. Pepper and onions fried for a little to soften. grated cheese. 2 eggs and milk. Put the veg at the bottom, cheese on top and then poor in the whisked egg and milk.
    Cooked for about 40minutes at 190 until top is firm and looks cooked.

    Hope that is of some use.

    We used to call these Jam Bombs when we were kids - mum used to make them from left over pastry with either jam or dried fruit in them. Tasted lovely.
