Who will insure a Cat C write-off (+ problem with no claims proof?)

Sorry, back again with another question!
I am waiting to pick up a car which is a Category C write off. Was written off because of undercarriage damage, but it's all fixed now, MOT was done on friday and it passed the VIC today. I'm just waiting for the engineers report, which I was told by a couple of insurance companies would be all I need for them to insure it.
The cheapest quote I can find is Co-Op, having called them about my previous car (Cat D) and about the new Cat C they said it would just require a report. Have spoken to them today and having checked with the underwriters they've now said they don't insure them full stop (despite the chap yesterday reading the T&C's aloud and it saying they'd require report, VIC certificate & MOT).
I've tried the next 5 places on the list on Go-Compare and they're all saying "No, sorry, we don't cover them".
I know someone's likely to point out the dangers of a write-offs but apart from the fact it's been checked etc it really is all I can afford. I wish I could afford to buy a "normal" car but I can't. Unfortunately at this rate it's looking as though I won't be able to afford the insurance!
My working day is only 4.5 hours and bus journeys would probably eat up 2.5 hours a day, so it wouldn't be worth me going to work without a car, and I really, really need to go to work!!
Does anyone know (from experience) of any companies that will definitely cover it?
(Sorry for the long, ranty post! )

Try an Insurance Broker?0

Have tried one which was recommended by a friend, they quoted £945 + £25 for legal expenses. Nearly cried lol!0

Aren't they all likely to quote similar prices though?0

Sorry to bump this up again.
I've just received my proof of no claims from my previous insurer, and the letter states that I had a 2 years no claims when the policy expired.
I didn't have any no claims when I took the policy out, but when the renewal came through it stated 2 years and when I pointed it out to them they said it wasn't a mistake, just a bonus which would only apply if I renewed with them, it couldn't be carried over to another insurer.
So now both copies of my no claims are showing 2 years instead of 1.
What's that all about?0
