Dry clean only but I can put it in the washer ?

I have some cushion covers, the label says dry clean only. The material is 66% polyester,29% acrylic chennile,5% cotton.
I don't know how much dry cleaning shops would charge but I'm guessing it will be nearly as much as the covers cost to buy !
Do you think if I put them in my washing machine it will ruin them ?

It might well damage the chenille finish.Hoping this year is better than the last.

If you want to risk it, I'd try a gentle hand wash rather than the washing machine. I quite often hand wash dry clean only items as it's less likely for the colour to run and ruin other things. Most have been ok, but I spoiled a shirt that had some sort of special finish and shrank to the size of a doll's outfit.
How much were they, and do you think it's worth the chance? If they don't have a finish on that you need to be careful of, then the main risk is probably that they shrink slightly. Or the chenille might stretch so you'd probably need to dry them flat. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I wouldn't risk machine washing anything with chenille in it - I did once and the jumper literally fell apart and bits of it stuck all over my other clothes!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

I've had them a few years and I don't think they were expensive but I've just decorated and they fit in with my new colour scheme perfectly so I thought they should get a clean up.
May have to see how much a shop will charge then

What about those dry clean sprays you can get? Never tried them, but they might be worth a look if the dry cleaner is silly money.
This sort of thing.
