Help with finding Repossessed houses

Options
Hi,

Can anyone help me? How can I find a list of repossessed houses/flats for sale in the Bristol area? I have tried the web without success.

Thanks in advanced.

I wouldn't imagine there is such a thing - lenders are under a duty to get the best value for repossessed property so they now market them normally via estate agents. Ones which don't shift go for auction.

  • Yes, I believe that they will try to sell first and then auction unless the property is a problem one and it may then go straight to auction. I think the repo auction is a bit of a myth as they will just be chucked in with other auctions. I do recall there being some law / rule about a repo house having to be advertised as a repo or something though?

the only way you can guarantee to find out is at the court on the morning of a repossession hearing - a list of the cases is put up outside the court with the name of the lender, and the vendors name, but no address. if it an unusual name you could track it via electoral roll. non-participants are not allowed inside the court room. if you are caught canvassing for business in the court lobby you will be thrown out by the Clerk.
  • The only time I have seen anything that may possibly be a repossession is when the estate agents but a notice in the local paper saying an offer of xxx has been received on xxx property and any interested parties should make an increased offer prior to exchange of contracts.
  • Thanks everyone for your advice.
