Baby monitor recommendations

Hi there
Our baby is due in November and we are starting to look at getting bits together and are keen to get a baby monitor but there seems to be a lot about to choose from.
Could you recommend me what you think is a good monitor from your experiences? We've seen that there are a lot that are more than just sound monitors and we are wondering whether it is worth spending more on something like this?
Thanks all.

We had the BT Digital Baby Monitor 150, approx £70. It's great and has a torch, iPod plug in functionality, nursery rhymes you can play, plus two way communication so you can talk from the hand set into the baby's room. The only thing we ever used though, was the monitor.
If money's no object, I would def recommend it. If you're on a tight budget I would say to get a basic monitor (I saw one for about £10 in Lloyds chemist), and see how you get on with it. I am sure it would do what you need it to do!Go your own way..

Yeah we have the same, the BT 150. It was highly rated at the time on 'Which?' and we find it great, very clear. I got it for £45 from the BT website, it was on offer at the time, early last year.
It has also an alarm which you can adjust which goes off if baby's room is too hot. The only drawback I would say is that the baby part has to be plugged in - it cannot run on batteries alone. But then we've had very few instances when that's been a problem.0 -
another one for the BT 150

It's fab, if we go away I take one charger and charge the parent unit during the day and then use the same lead for the baby unit at night.
Great monitor
DON'T Get the lloyds one - it's awfulA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

today i ordered the bt 100 decided against the bt150 as it was more money and had loads of extra functions that i didnt think we'd use. Both had very good reviews. My baby is 6 months but i can't hear her cry when she naps upstairs during the day due the noise from my 2 sons, shes probably my last baby, never needed a monitor with the other 2, not very money saving buying one now when i wont use it for long. I saw some a little cheaper but they didnt have very good reviews.0

We're expecting our first baby in a few weeks and have got the BT 150 monitor, based on the excellent Which? reviews. Obviously have not used it yet, but think it will be a good one. RRP is £70, but we paid £53 in Costco. Costco have had them in for a number of months at this price. Not Buying It 2015

We have the BT 150 too, I find it really good, although it does have a lot of functions on it that we don't use the signal and clarity of sound is brilliant. Much better than the Philips one we have in our sons room. I particularly love the fact you can just lift off the parent 'bit' and take it in the kitchen/garden etc with me.
I bought ours from Boots as they were doing a deal plus I got a shedload of extra points on the advantage card but I have just looked on the BT shop website and they are selling them on special offer for £59.99.0 -
We are using the Angel Care. Its a monitor the also tells you the room temp and has a heart beat sensor via a pad that fits under the cot matress. An alarm sounds if no heartbeat is picked up.Never buy a stupid dwarf -
Its not big and its not clever.0 -
well my bt 100 arrived today, the setting up just involved plugging it in. Have been playing around with it this afternoon, very impressed. I can even hear my older children giggling in the next room.0

We have the angelcare also. I love the peace of mind that the movement sensor gives me (paranoid mummy!) but I'm not impressed with the sound quality on it.Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0
