afternoon all,
last october i brought a laptop from pc world, over the past month it has developed issues with the track pad and "mouse" buttons. phoned up pc world this morning and they said it was covered and would send a courier to pick it up, it would however take 2 - 3 weeks to repair and get returned, my wife an I both use the laptop for work and college and have no back up, so couldn't live without it for 3 weeks (also there is the broadband and phoneline rental).
Do i have any other options?
Cheers

Hire one for the duration?

No idea what the above company are like just an example.
Maybe PC world would hire you one if you ask.0 -

Well, do you have some kind of extended warranty (or does the warranty included) that promises a 'quick fix' and give a maximum turn around? If not then 2-3 weeks is fairly reasonable if PCW have to send it away, thus not much choice but to borrow or rent an alternative computer.
Would be best to backup your data too, or ask to keep the harddisk, just to be sure you don't loose your data.0 -
I'd personally make sure all sensitive data is removed before allowing them to take the laptop.
I'm not saying that they are dishonest, but better to be safe than sorry.
As for the 2-3 weeks etc, I don't believe PC World offer a quick turnaround i.e. 2-3 days. Wonder if the manufactures warranty might be quicker, unless they tell you to return it to the company you purchased it from.0 -

OP, Coopdivi's post, post #3, offers the best option.
Pick up a mouse for a fiver somewhere, Tesco?, and then find a suitable time when you can be without the laptop for the length of time that Pc World want it.0 -
