What is your new car? It may not have an NCAP rating due to not being tested yet.
Its a kia sportage titan model
It has 6 airbags but Im not sure or crumple zones the sorento which it is like has five I thinkNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0 -
- if I was to convert it to LPG, how would the 34mpg (ish) fair if it was LPG? I don't know anyone who has had their vehicle changed to LPG so can't really ask anyone I know!
The 34mpg (manufacturer figure?) would drop to 27mpg (using the manufacturer figure)
LPG as a fuel holds 80% of the energy of petrol so you lose mpg.
My Astra 1.6 went from 44mpg to 34/35mpg on LPG.
I run at 8p a mile (LPG 62.9p/l) whereas the petrol runs at 12p a mile (petrol price 113.9p/l best at the stations I pass and would use)

You don't have to be doing any of them things to have a 4x4 they are comfortable to drive and a whole lot safer than a ford focus or any other small/meduim sized car. Safety is the main priority. I have never felt safer in my car I've had quite a few cars and I love my patriot I wouldn't be without it.
They are only safer than a Ford Focus or other medium size car because there are no so many incompetant, dangerous and pig ignorant drivers behind the wheels of large 4 x4s, from what I've seen many of these people can barely handle a smaller car so they just by one of these things and trust that everyone will get out of their way. Plus 4 x 4s have a higher centre of gravity, this makes them less stable and liable to roll when cornering. I'm not anti 4 x 4 but this thing about them being safer than normal cars is a complete myth.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Depends entirely on the 4x4 your talking about.
An 'old style' one with a seperate chassis from the body will protect the occupants better than a monocoque design (the chassis takes the impact and not the body).
LPG will not improve your MPG (as noted above) but the cost saving is so great that it more than makes up for it.
Alternatively, an older diesel will run on veg oil (or a mixture) so can be made cheaper that way.
I see many incompetent drivers in all sizes of vehicle - 4x4s are a long way from holding the monopoly (although Nissan Micras are well up there)

On the LPG issue, yes it does less MPG.
Before converting, be sure you are going to keep the vehicle long term and take some advice on which LPG kit to price up.
Make sure LPG is readily available locally.
I pay 53p a litre in north Manchester, but the price varies much more then petrol and more remote areas tend to be far more expensive, so you can pay 10 or even 12p a litre more0 -

However, someone incompetant behind the wheel of a Range Rover, Land Cruiser, Pajero etc can do a lot more damage especially where pedestrians are involved, which is why I object to there use as Chelsea Tractors.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
I don't think so to be honest - any motor travelling at 40 mph (for the sake of argument) is going to seriously damage whatever it hits.
The difference is, my passengers will be safer because I have a large motor with a solid chassis - that's one of the main reasons I spend the money, to keep those I care about safe.0
