Hi,
I have a question..
We purchased a dishwasher three weeks ago, since then we have had three items break, all replaceable accessories, like the tray. But the machine is lightly used and we're simply not happy with the quality of the machine.
The company Argos, refuse any talk of refund or credit note and simple direct us to the maintenance phone number.
My wife hates this mahine now given the poor quality of it, and wants shot of it!
What are our options here?
Thanks in advance!

You could argue that it is not fit for use and you have a reasonable time period to get a refund, the problem is that the reasonable time period is not defined and could be argued by Argos that you have exceeded this time period which then means your only options are replacement or repair as per Argos's wish.
The problem also here is do you actually know what is breaking the products because if the machine is operating as it should then proving there is a fault could be trickyThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

! Nice answer, all heart
Reconsider how we treat it? Should we not use it? Then it would be as good as new. Its used normally and reasonably.
And we don't want it anymore because it keeps breaking and not the other way round, you cheeky monkey!
You seem to be just the kind of person that should just not bother posting if all your just trying to do is antagonise. You can want all you want; you won't get.
Argos can repair or replace if they wish as long as its reasonable which here it would appear to be, maybe if you keep breaking it you need to reconsider how you treat it....Unless of course its all deliberate to get a refund as you dont want it anymore.I am a NumptyYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Numpty, so you need to take my word for it. oddly being a reasonable fellow, if I mistreat or misuse something I am not surprised when it breaks. When I however use something normally and it breaks I tend be little more surprised.
But thanks for pointing out the obvious anyway Judas.I am a NumptyYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Numpty, so you need to take my word for it. Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as good advice.0 -
I'd phone the head office and tell them that it's nof fit for purpose and you would like a refund. Always worth asking to speak to a manager if the person you speak to is not heplful.
The reasonable time mentioned by others is usually deemed to be 30 days.
Ignore the idiots like Judas this place is plagued by people like that.0 -

Where did you get that figure from? The reasonable time period is the time taken to test the product sufficiantly, given it is a dishwasher it could be argued that 1 week is 'reasonable' to test that the product does as it says on the tinThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

It's not just about whether the period is sufficient to show that "the product does as it says on the tin", it's more about being sufficient enough to show up any defect so the consumer can reject it outright. I would say 3 weeks is still within this period, especially if it started breaking bits from the outset.0

I personally agree but just pointing out that yours and my view could be differant to the judges and the retailers view. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

I have no problem with my diswasher after 23 years of faithful service, she would thank you lot herself but she is tied up at the moment. Later she'll be chained to the sink.0

I think we must have the same make/model...it moans a grumbles a bit sometimes but still does an excellent job! The bonus is that it also does it in a 1/10 of the time these new fangled ones do it, which means it's cheaper on the leccy and water bills!0 -
hmm Ok Argos are saying: -
That I only have a right to repair or replace and that they will offer me a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience caused.
I haven't got shirty with a manager yet, just shirty by e-mail.
