Livid about HP Laptops!

Just wondered if anyone else has ordered a HP laptop in the last 24hrs?

I last night ordered a decent one from the HP store costing £699 which came with a free printer on a limited time offer. On ordering the laptop i checked my bank account and saw that my cleared balance had changed so thought great thats gone through and i will get my laptop on Thursday.

Well this morning just after 8am i got an email saying "Order Unsucessful" but no reason so at 9am i called HP customer services who were unable to tell me why and said it was strange as the system normally tells them so they would escalate it to there finance department to find out why.

I then checked my account and the funds still seem to be secured to HP so called the bank and explained. The bank said they could not have been a problem with my details as otherwise the bank would have stopped the transaction straight away but said to me to call HP and get them to fax to get the funds released which i did and they said they would straight way and as i type the money is not back to my account.

Whilst on the phone the lady said i could try the order again but i said i cant do that you have the money secured until thats sorted i cant and anyway surely we need to know why my last order was stopped first as i only had the same details again.

Well here a thing i then went back to the HP store and noticed the free printer deal has now been replaced by a crappy Norton software freebie so i now believe they canceled my order just so if i reordered i would now only get the free software.

I have now complained to there customer services team that said they would take it very seriously but hey guess what not heard a thing hence i will now be going elsewhere when i get my cash back.

I suspect that there is very little you can do here other than ask them what they can do for you as a gesture of goodwill.

Most major companies such as HP word their Terms and Conditions very carefully so that they can get out of situations like this with no liability. You will ~probably~ find that, in this specific case, no contract has been formed, and so you won't be able to force them to do anything about it.

Yeah i figured that was the case but its annoying you have no recourse as to me its obvious what they have done although they have lost a customer now as i will not buy this now from them or anywhere else.

I just really want others to know what they are like as a company as dont get me wrong if i get good service i am the first to shout but now i shout louder if i get bad and HP deserve this bad press.

I found HP are high price for specs on everything. Best I have seen is Dell. My studio laptop is 1 yr old and still looks new and its been used at least 5 hrs a day since purchase.
