Please help! Every time I want to open a PDF file on line, I get a message Interent Explorer experienced a problemand has to close. I'm getting so frustrated as I'm looking for a job and very often then details of vacancies are in PDF Format. I've tried downloading Acrobat Reader again but that didn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Shelanne

I'd highly recommend you download Foxit Reader 2.0 (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php)
It's free, very small (about 1.5 Megs download), doesn't require an install and is extremely quick in comparison to Acrobat Reader.0 -
Try downloading Foxit Reader from http://majorgeeks.com/Foxit_Reader_d4763.html. It is very small & doesn't even need to install, just unzip it to a folder somewhere & run it from there. It integrates into IE and Firefox, opens a lot quicker than Adobe & takes up a lot less space.
Too slow again - orainsear beat me to it. Just make sure you get the free version.0 -
Have you tried right clicking on the link to the pdf file, Save Target as to save the file to your disk and then double clicking on the saved file?

In IE, choose Edit > Preferences. Select Internet in the list on the left. Select Display PDF in Browser, and click OK (if this is ticked, untick and then retick it). Restart IE.
If it still doesn't work, follow these:
Open Internet Explorer, Tools menu, Manage Add-ons
In the Manage Add-ons dialog, select Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer
Make sure Adobe Acrobat Control for ActiveX (pdf.ocx) is Enabled. If it's disabled, enable the add-on and restart Internet Explorer.0 -
Foxit DOESN'T automatically integrate into Firefox.
See HERE but when you "CHANGE ACTION" you need to select the "OPEN WITH THIS APPLICATION" button, click on BROWSE and select FOXIT from whereever you've installed it.0 -
I've got foxit and it opens fine with firefox, I did not change any settings.0
