Forget the Sheraton then. Never been particularly impressed with Sheratons anywhere in the world anyway.
I think you need to set out all of the points of complaint - not just the water outage - in a letter to them. Clearly this had an impact on the holiday.
I also think you would be entitled to claim damages for disappointment in this case. Did you formally complain to the rep at the time?0 -
Thanks for the advice. The rep came with us to the manager and then just left us to it. I will take it up further with our agents because it was quite an expensive trip & we did feel disappointed when we got home.0

OK but a claim for disappointment is at the time.0 -
I really think anything other than a relatively small refund is uncalled for.
Presumably toilets etc where available elsewhere in the hotel? Probably showers etc too.
OP paid for 5 star service. Day and a half of a week's holiday was blighted.
I wouldn't want to wander around a hotel at 3am looking for somewhere to take a leak.0 -
OP this happened to us a few years ago - we were without running water for 5 days in a row. When I complained I was basically told 'tough' - the only shower that was working was the one near the pool, so everyone used that! I complained when we were there and on our return but had no joy.. I was 4 months pregnant at the time and did not persue it as I was not well, but I wish I had as it is a big deal being without water when you have paid for a service!0

The availability of toilets elsewhere is of little relevance. The OP paid top dollar for a stay in a supposedly 5* hotel and had every right to expect decent facilities. This most certainly includes the facility to have a private P in your own bathroom - a trek to the public toilet (possible in the middle of the night ) is totally unacceptable.
Yes, breakdowns/interruptions to supply etc do happen but a decent hotel would have sorted this out quickly, possibly by moving the room, and might have made a goodwill gesture - flowers, wine etc. An argument in reception with management , denial of the problem and what sounds like a disinterested Rep who couldn't be bothered is not what should have happened.
I don't think a HUGE payout is required but certainly some reasonable gesture is approriate.ELITE 5:2

My point exactly, thanks for all your responses everyone.0
