A while ago I bought a Cool-er eBook reader direct from Interead. I was happy with it until it broke but it was under guaranatee and they said they would happily fix it.
However they stopped replying to my emails asking what had become of it and my registered letter was returned "Gone away". At that point I discovered there had been a Winding Up order granted against them which they have been trying to keep quiet (presumably so they can go on selling them!).
As they have my eBooker reader I want to register as a creditor in the hope of either getting a bit of its value back or a replacement from their inventory.
The trouble is I can't discover who to register with. Can anybody tell me how to find out who the Administrators/Liquidators are?
EDIT: For those reading this thread for the first time some of the original posts seem to have been deleted which is why some of mine below look as if I am talking to an invisible friend!

            Hi,
The Official Receiver is the liquidator.
It's useful having access to Companies House filings sometimes! (Just don't tell anyone I told you that)
As for registering as a creditor, I don't know how you go about this. Maybe contact the court?Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0

They have had it 3 months! They said it would be quick if I agreed to accept a refurbished unit as a replacement rather than waiting for it to be repaired, which I said I would.
They used to reply to my emails with excuses but then they just stopped responding completely. Finally I sent them a registered post letter saying I was planning to take them to the Small Claims Court but it came back saying they had moved out of the offices.
Not sure what to do next. I realise I am unlikely to get anything back but I would at least like to be in the running however unlikely!
P.S. They do not offer a phone number and although they are (were) a British company the help desk is located in Gibraltar.0

To do that I still need to discover who the liquidators are, and if I can do that it would be less risky just to register as a creditor with them - I don't really want to have to pay the small claims courts costs myself if it turns out they have no cash and my claim is last in the queue.
Currently there seems to be no company address and no liquidator - it's just in limbo!0

It would seem to be the Official Receiver. Try giving your local Official Receiver a call they should give you more information but don't hold out much hope that you will get anything"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

            Thanks people, I'll give that a try.0

Small claims court; get a judgement for the value; then send this to the company/liquidator to register your claim.
You will then get recognised as a creditor; of course could be a waste of time and money if there are no assets.
If they really are in liquidation then please DONT waste any more money on making a claim via small claims. You will simply waste your money as even when you get a judgement (probably by default as they are not going to turn up, if they are in liquidation they have other things to worry about), you will be no better off than you were at the start of the process apart from being down your filing fees (£30+ depending on size of claim).
As a creditor already, you simply need to inform the official receiver for interead of the debt. The reality is it is highly unlikely you will get anything back after the banks take their secured debts.
 Stop wasting anymore money0

Just had a quick look at Companies House. Interead was wound up on the 8th June 2010 on a petition from Beam Agency Ltd at the Chancery Division of the Liverpool District Registry. They made their application on the 26th Mar 2010.
That should be enough information for you to locate the official receiver.0

As Vomity says, you can't just issue proceedings against a company which is in liquidation.
It clearly has no money hence the OR is acting.

Just a quick note, did you pay by credit card? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Thanks, I had just found that too on the register. Sounds like they are the ones to contact.Equaliser123 wrote: »Practitioner name:OR LONDON, THE OFFICIAL RECEIVERPractitioner address:21 BLOOMSBURY STREET

As to whether I paid by credit card - yes I did but remember the purchase is not in dispute, this is a repair under guarantee which I did not pay for so I doubt I can claim from my credit card company - but very happy to hear if I'm wrong!0
