Cahoot - £30 charge for breaching credit card limit - is that legal?

Why did you sign the contract, if you believed it to be unfair/unlawful?
"do you think it's ok for companies to act unlawfully as long as it doesn't affect you?"
The contract was SUBSEQUENTLY deemed unlawful - banks don't set out to break the law, it gets expensive!0 -
Difficult to disagree with much here.
If terms and conditions are such a problem, then dont sign up.0 -

There is ofcourse the wider reaching issue here of all banks acting as a cartel by all having the same terms and conditions attached. If I am expected to adhere to the terms and conditions, is it not fair that the terms and conditions should be lawful and enforceable. Clearly these conditions are neither lawful or enforceable, otherwise I am sure that myself and many others would not have had refunds.
Why does there seem to be a general feeling that 'free' banking is a right, or an entitlement? I am sure everyone is aware of the adage regarding 'free' lunches????Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -

I always clear my balance in full and have done for almost seven years.
I have emailed them back and asked them to waive it this time as a gesture of goodwill - but the question is can credit card co. charges be treated the same as bank charges i.e. can you get out of them by saying they are illegal?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
if you look at cahoots website this charge has now been dropped to 25 pound, not much help but hope you can use this info x0 -

Sorry BonJoey - I just meant that it wasn't a £25 fee, it would have been a £12, for where the account holder fell foul of the T&Cs.
