Don't really know if you can or not, but you could try copying all the details from the o2 box (address etc) and put them onto your router.

Here's some info from o2's forums

:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
  • You should be able to! As long as the wires all fit in the back, you'll be good to go. You'll likely just have to change the username and password for your ISP account (which should come with your O2 documentation).
  • Virgin uses a cable router, i.e. no in-built modem.
O2 I imagine needs an ADSL modem router. So I'd've thought you'd need the new one.
    Friendly greeting!
  • given ppl have now said both answers, I guess that doesn't help much! sorry

Well it would depend if he was on Virgin ADSL or Cable.

    No is correct.

Virgin cable modem/router won't work on an ADSL line and vice versa for the O2 modem/router.
    Dave.
  • oh well another thing to stick on ebay
  • It doesn't mean you can't use it though for Wireless it just means you need to use both devices.

You can plug an ethernet cable into the cable uplink on your old router from the new router and this will enable you to use the Wireless N network.
If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!
