Bought for £100 sold for £46,800

There is an article on page 3 of the Daily Mail today about someone who saw a Worcester jug on ebay and recognised it as something valuable. They won it for £102.72 and sold it immediately via Bonham for £46,800.

I'm checking out the rest of the Worcester jugs as I type!

  • Oooooh I hope the seller didn't read that, wouldn't they be gutted.
  • but the seller didn't know what they were selling. I would have somewhat researched something like that before putting it on to an auction site.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

I'm guilty of selling things I have no idea about.

I have something listed at the moment, photographed from lots of angles, listed what the marks say and basically just said i've no idea how old or what these are.

I've had three lots of browsers email me to give me chapter and verse about what I am selling, turns out they are quite rare. I think there are some great buyers out there, helping me with my listings like that!

Also a certain wonderful regular user on here has set me right a few times, both on my spelling and on what it was I was selling!

  • Wow, thats serious profit! :j
  • If they haven't read about it I expect they are very pleased with their £102.72.
  • And I thought that I did well by paying £1 for a vase and selling for £247.00 !!
  • I can guess what everyone is searching for now on ebay.........
  • It's not really ebay-specific though, just a matter of knowing what collectors will pay. I know some people who are experts on various pottery-makers, and it's not uncommon for them to buy something at a car boot sale for a couple of pounds and sell it on for 50-200... I don't think any of them have ever made quite as much profit in a single deal though :).
  • Holy smoly, that's a lot of dosh to be made!
