Free cardboard boxes, any ideas?

Am looking for sources of free cardboard boxes. I have a few bits of glassware and other fragile items to sell on Ebay and I've asked at Argos, Wilkos if they have any used boxes but seems they now get paid for recycling their materials so none available to give away.
Tesco sell Royal Mail post pack boxes but that is going to add to the cost of the item and anyway I would rather recycle than buy new.
I haven't got any boxes from stuff I've bought.
Are small local independent shops a good source?
Can any of you helpful folks offer me some advice, please, on how I might get some sturdy boxes free of charge?
I'm a private seller and selling my unused things -principally to offset my car's running costs.
Thank you!

Shoe shops are a good source. I recycle my delivery boxes into packaging with an machine, so big companies will have found an efficient way to recycle or reuse their own stuff too.0

Corner shops. I used to give loads away.0

Our local Morrissons has loads of boxes by the tills. Just help yourself :TYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

I got mine free from Macky Ds and bought the extra from UK Boxes. They sell recycled boxes (or once used as they call them, ha, ha). Think they were less than a quid each and they delivered them.
Also try computer shops as the computer boxes I used were strong and had handles. Awesome for carry stuff and packing up my computer funnily enough.
I've since also found you can get them on your local Freecycle just make sure it's worth your trip before agreeing to take them.0 -
How about trying yours/partners/friends places of work's IT or premises departments etc? We get loads of boxes into our IT dept. and we save them all for one lady who eBays chinaware!0

You could try Freecycle or trying the Industrial estates in your area. My husband delivers round them and they said he could take whatever boxes he needs, so have often gone round them collecting a few lol, they are great because they have a lot of bubble wrap and that with them.0

Just incase anyone from around the Walsall area reads this....there is a place I think its called Admiral storage by J10 of the M6 giving away 10 free packing boxes per household. You have to print off a voucher from thier website.0

Thank you all very much for your superb suggestions.
Please keep the ideas coming ... I can't follow up on some of the helpful suggestions as I don't have a Morrisons in my area; I am retired so can't ask at work; I don't live near J10 M6 at Walsall but I am very grateful, nevertheless, for everyone's advice.0 -
Netto charge for bags so usually have a selection of boxes after the checkouts as well.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!0 -
I was going to suggest netto/aldi/lidl - you could probably get away with nicking a couple off the shelves (nearly empty ones, that would be picked up next time they went round clearing up), or ask them, as they alwas seem to have them about for people to use to take stuff home in.0
