undisplayed ticket

Shopping last weekend I purchased a car park ticket which was a flimsy thing and no self adhesive to it. I placed the ticket on the dashboard, shut the door and did my shopping. When I arrived back to the car I had a fixed penalty notice slapped on it. I wrote to the ticket company and explained it must of fallen off when I shut the door, but they won't budge they say it was my responisibilty to display it properly. Is it worth me writing back and fighting??

If it is a Private Car Park - just ignore.

You say ticket company, if its definitely a private company then don't bother contacting them again. Just ignore any correspondence and any threatograms.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Oh yes, that's a well-known private company. They don't 'excel' at anything except threats!

    SHORT ANSWER:
Ignore all their letters and threats of Court. At least you've only wasted a stamp.

You owe zero, it's a scam a bit like a phishing email series, even though it's dressed up to look legit.

    LONG ANSWER WITH LINKS:

Ignore the ticket completely (of course your 'appeal' was refused - they ALWAYS are as it's a scam!).

Google 'private parking scam' and look for forum posts on here, pepipoo.com, consumer action group, all of which will tell you that such private parking tickets are unenforceable trash, whether or not you've appealed already.

Watchdog covered this a couple of months ago, and their legal bod helpfully confirmed just what we tell everyone to do with fake parking tickets. Do watch this, it's very funny and 100% correct advice:

The registered keeper will receive a few debt collector letters telling you to pay, but so what once you know they are just bog roll! Do not panic, do not believe the lies on the letters about Court/CCJs/dire consequences! Debt Collectors have no powers at all, and bailiffs can only be appointed by a Court (if you lost a Court case and then you still refused to pay - can you see that actually happening?).

See examples here of what sort of letters to ignore and be prepared for. Don't bother to actually read their threats when you get the matching threats, instead look at them now so you are ready to laugh when you get the whole predictable set:

To be proactive, if the scam letters get tiresome you may like to also report the company and their debt collectors for harassment:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/en...=03_harassment

But don't forget this is NOT a debt, NOT a fine, just a mickey mouse ticket.

Nothing happens, your credit record is NOT affected, so don't fall for this con. :)

Be angry about their scary letters, tell your friends never to pay a private parking ticket, even if they have broken the car park's spurious 'rules' and even if they've tried the so-called 'appeals' process.

But don't pay it! Spread the word. This ticket is a scam and the letters must be ignored.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
