Talktalk/tiscali "system Error" cancelled my account

I had a broadband/phone package originally with Tiscali since 2007. On 2/8/10 my b/band stopped working. I reorted this to Talktalk and was informed a "system error" had cancelled my b/band and I needed to speak to b/band billing to sort it. B/band confirmed this and said because of my package type my phone line would soon be cancelled as well. The only solution was for them to set me a new package up (same terms and conditions f.o.c.) with a new phone no. I tried explaining that I had spent this last 17 years building my business around my old phone no. and it was vital that I keep it. No I had to have a new one. Not worth arguing with a script reader I said no.
I then rang phone billing and was informed Talktalk knew this was going to happen and that customers who would be effected had been sent letters and where being called by phone.
Again I explained my situation and was told by a supervisor the only chance I had of keeping my phone no. was to get BT to take it over before it was cut off on 13/8/10.
Straight away I signed up with BT and was given a live date of 12/8/10.
However on 3/8/10 Talktalk cut my phone line off.
I now have no b/band and more importantly to me no phone.
None of my existing customers or any potential new ones can contact me unless they know my mobile no.
This is disasterous for me especially in these difficult times.
Trying to get any sense out of Talaktalk is maddening as you just get stuck in revolving systems of dept passing usually ending up back where you started.
Does anyoe kniow off any way to contact Talktalk where you can get any useful assistance at all.
I intend to seek legal advice on this matter but would just rather resolve the situation asap without the legal hassles

To Talktalk Rep.
Your reply is as useless.
You're trying to direct me to the same useless system That I don't want to waste any more time on.
Another dance around the Talktalk customer ignorance system will drive me insane.
Anyone else??:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
EmmaL - can you please assist with sorting a Talk Talk issue out? I have been advised this is the best place to post my request.
I have spent 4 3/4hrs today alone just trying to sort out what should have been a basic complaint. Having been passed from department to department and cut off again and again I am at the end of my tether. The issue has been going on for months and I will be approaching Ofcom/ OTELO for appropriate action. I simply cannot spend any more time wasted on this. If I add up the amount of time I have complained to Talk Talk over the last 2 years it must run into days and days worth. Basically:
- Letters received from TT to suggest I was cancelling my account when no request was ever made.
- Issues regarding line rental / 1571 service / appauling customer service.
- Complaints raised to senior level have apparently been ignored and no contact has been made. etc etc. Still waiting for call backs from Manager as we speak. Even the complaints number I was given was incorrect. Even the Talk Talk staff themselves have commented what a complete mess the account is in. I can give you references/ names detailing what they have said.
The situation is just a farce. PLEASE can you assist?0 -

'cos Talk Talk's cheap?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I cancelled within two weeks of a sales call to get me to extend my contract, during which I was told I would have this time AFTER the letter confirming arrived. When I mentioned this to a lady who subsequently called a letter was obviously printed and then sent out and they are now trying to charge me a disconnection fee of nearly £200. Having copied their MD in on the last e-mail they no longer use e-mail to contact me (what are they trying to hide?).
I have had another foreign call from them which confirmed that I did not owe anything and then another call offering me free line rental and a broadband modem if I rejoined.
Now a letter from their collections department demanding the money!
When I called I got passed around three different people, the English of the second one was so poor she could not understand me - I don't have an accent. Finally they gave me the premium rate number of their collections dept because even they could not get through to them because of a 'problem on their system'.
I cannot believe that this is company policy to attempt to gain funds by less than honest means... what do you think?
P.S. I am getting tired typing into all the different complaints boards.
I have now contacted Otelo and raised a compaint with them. Any reputable company would have been able to sort this out themselves without resorting to very poor business practices. I can recommend Plusnet, not only are they cheaper they have something called customer services!!0 -
Hi All,
To clarify we cannot support customers via the MSE forum as we are unable to exchange personal details. As such if you require support I can only request you register on the forum where we can provide further assistance.
Alternatively I could only refer you to the other communication channels either via mail email or telephone as I cannot take any account details via MSE to investigate into such issues.
