Hi folks,
I applied for the GE card and like alot of people here got turned down but apparently they were very picky.
Someone suggested I apply for the Virgin card and pay the 2% balance transfer fee (I'm transferring 5k from HSBC Mastercard) but I just got turned down. I applied online then at the end of the application they asked me to call a freefone number. I asked why I had been declined and he said it's probably because I've had a virgin card before.
I was a successful card tart over the last 3 years, never incurring any charges or costs by always paying by direct debit, never missing payments and always moving cards in good time before the 0% interest period expired. I also cancelled the cards after moving on.
My credit score is very good but will it be damaged by both GE & Virgin turning me down in the space of 4 weeks ?
I have a 5k debt with HSBC Masterdcard that I wanna transfer before November - any suggestions please ?
Chris

Try AMEX they are currently on an approval spreee :beer:0 -
you will have to check your dredit file, through experian or equifax, both offer a free trial, you could find out straight away!0

My suggestion, as well as checking the crdit files as stated above, would be to not apply for another card until October. Have you got a Barclaycard? If you apply through them, they will credit check you on Equifax, whereas GE and Virgin would have credit checked you on Experian - so these wont show up when Barclaycard do a search.0

Cheers guys for your help - I absolutely love this website and forums
