Depending on who buys it, will determine whether I bovver to keep my Egg card going.

I've always had good service from Egg, but now I owe them nothing I can choose myself if I want to leave.

Main reason for keeping my Egg card going really is that it's the only Visa CC I have.

I totally agree, same with me. will be interesting whoever buys egg what changes they will make.

I doubt there will be a big queue of buyers for Egg as it usually makes losses. Nevertheless, the number of years it has kept the 1% cashback on Egg Money is impressive.

When you think back, you realise how things have changed, Egg, Mint and several other cards, where presented as new and fresh credit cards in their adverts, along with all those what's in your wallet, Capital One ads too.

Nowadays only Barclaycard seem to advertise their credit cards with any regularity.

All the Egg advertising stopped, they stopped their loans and now they are up for sale and they are still a baby compared to many in the credit card world.

I think that was what i predicted word for word just a week or two on here (selling assets, especially those that involve lending products so, one they can pay back the TARP relief and 2, dont have to lend anymore money). I'll see if i can find the post...

Just a slight correction on this, i was reffering to the Diners Club card and the inevitable sale of that (which will happen sooner or later).

There was talk last October of Barclays being interested, but I haven't heard a peep since then.

The most recent thing I heard was the people behind OPUS were interested. However Barclays are still being mentioned.

Out of the two I hope Barclays are the new owners.

I shall continue to use my Egg Money card for as long as the cashback remains at 1%. I've had it for ages so don't have to pay the monthly fee.
