Reporting abuse

Whilst the system of reporting abuse has improved, it still forces the user to jump through hoops in order to report it and for that very reason I cannot be bothered to jump through those hoops in order to report spam and other junk that gets posted. This is clearly not beneficial to the site when a form the user originally intended to complete out of good-will goes uncompleted because of its time consuming nature.
Now, I do also realise that if you make it very simple, you're going to get flooded with idiotic abuse alerts for things that don't qualify as abuse, so I propose that you retain the current form for new members and have a simple one-click submission method available to the more long-standing members who aren't likely to do daft things with it.

Can you document how many hoops ? As I see it, you click a button and type a few words to say why it is spam, then click send. Very quick, simple and easy to do.0 -
From our point of view, and to echo vuvuzela, it's a three step process:
1. You decide you need to alert us and click a button to open a form
2. Give us some information about why it is worthy of reporting
3. Send it
How would you like us to make this easier to use? The ability to add a few words is hugely important as it massively speeds up reaction time as we view the post or thread with an idea of what the report is about.

I don't need to even do that highlighted step.
Clicking abuse button of a post automatically sends details of the post being reported as part of the form submission.
It works exactly as the MSE Forum Manager said for me
"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
