over estimated gas bill

My gas supplier has drastically overestimated my bill and charged me accordingly, is it worth complaining , or just accept it as I would have effectively bought future gas at todays price.

Take a reading and send it to them!

They will issue a new bill.

I never run my utility bills in credit as the money is better in my account than theirs.

Next gas price movement will probably be down.

but surely the price of gas is rising faster than the interest I would make on the extra money? Am I missing a point somewhere?

You wouldn't be paying for 'future' gas at today's price.

You would be paying for future gas at the price it is at the time you USE it, not when you gave npower a free loan of your money to invest!

It is simply a gamble on prices increasing or decreasing by the time an actual reading is taken.

However we are really not talking a lot of money in lost interest are we? If your bill is overestimated by £100(say 4,000kWh) you lose £1 in interest for each quarter until it is corrected.

i think I will take the gamble with the fuel price seeing that it has doubled almost over 2 years, and seeing that demand is probably outstripping supply dues to population increases, I'll takes the gamble to save on the cost of gas.

am with british gas and the last two months our dd has gone from 40 odd quid for gas and the same for electric and suddenly its now double that we cant afford it rang them up only got the electric down to 70 they wouldnt budge on the gas i think i might just read our metres too but she only told me that i couldnt have my dd reduced after i had been put through to three different people telling them the same info three times account number telephone number first line of my address postcode by the third time i was telling her before she asked and told me to hold on because i was getting too far ahead of her arghhhhhhhhhh bad day today!
