Manchester card discount code???

Options
Does anybody have the discount code for the citycard in manchester?

I read something about it somewhere on this site the other day and was going to get one but didn't get round to it, and now I cant find the thread. I always check this site out even though I haven't registered until today. Keep up the good work people with tips etc. If I find any I'll be sure to let you know.

I've found the site for Citycard, it's https://www.citycardmanchester.co.uk if anyone is interested, but I really want to find the code as it gets you about £20 off- but I'm going out this weekend and want to get it before then- Any suggestions please????

  • Relpied to your 'local' post too, so see there for more info

I noticed something on a dining website called onionring.co.uk which has £20 off City Card discount code. It's onionaug, which gets it you for £35 instead of £55 for the year.

Very good product, definately worth getting as I got mine having seen the code on here for barclays staff at the same price and got one straight away. Saved money back already, especially like the 25% off at Slug and Lettuce and deal at Choice restaurant of 2 for 1:j .

    Good luck

  • worked fine, did the 25.00 for 6 month as probably moving then.

    Thanks again

  • Hey, just noticed that it gets you half price tooth whitening too!

I bought it mainly for the restuarant and bar savings, but things like that make it even more worth while.

Thanks again to who ever originally recom'd it, I owe you a drink!

If you are looking for reduced price meals and drinks then you really should get the hi-life card. The discounts in that are so much better. Most of the places will give you 2 for 1 on 2-3 course meals.

    https://www.hi-life.co.uk

It states that you can only use each restaraunt once but as a restaraunt manager I can tell you that most venues do not even mark the card and can be used many times over.
I have used my card at one paticular restaraunt 6 times and 3 times at anouther.
  • Had a look at high life club a while ago too, and I thought it looked really good at first.

The thing that put me off was that a friend of mine who had one said that he never used it because you couldn't use it many places on Saturdays. He showed me the book that it came with and there were lots of restrictions saying when you could and couldn't use it + other things which it doesn't mention on their website when you go to join. It also has lots of the good restaurants on premium membership only basis which again it doesn't mention on the site (that costs nearly £90 which is a lot of money to save back). I just thought it was a bit too sneaky not mentioning these things which put me off!

I only ever really eat out on a Saturday night or daytimes in the week, when I dont tend to plan ahead and most places tend to have offers on anyway.

I noticed on the Citycard scheme that there are also restrictions, but still quite a few that you can use saturdays, but the good thing is they mention it before you buy it, and there are some good drinks offers too.

I think I'd probably still use the City Card one more because there all sorts of things on it. I'll probably use the drinks ones more than food, with the offer at lotus bar of 241 drinks and slug &letuce 25% off, and other things too like the comedy store. Think the high life club is more suited to couples who eat out a lot on weeknights, and Citycard more for younger City types???

might give it a try if I dont use my Citycard much

    thanks again

ps which restaurant do you work at? I don't want to be eating anywhere that the manager has personal hygiene issues:rotfl:
  • I have the Yorkshire Hi Life card and have had lots of good meals out. This years card has paid for itself in the first week alone.
You can often get offers in the local evening papers, stating first month or first 2 months free use. So if you dont find it worth while in that time you can return it for a full refund.

  • I'll look out for that one

    Thanks for the tip josey
  • Thanks to Am again as I've used the citycard several times already and so far I have worked out that I have saved about £30, which gave me a great idea. It's really obvious but makes perfect sense!

i'll work out what I would have spent each time I make a saving, then I'll put this away in a jar and at the end of each month I'll put it into a high interest account. This way, the more I eat and drink out, and do other things around town, the more I will put away in the bank- Genious:money: :j

quick calc tells me this will be about £1500 over the year

I will be a millionaire one day!
  • Me too, it really has come in handy and ive saved a load too. Unfortunately i don't share your foresight, and I have found myself eating out more often now (virtually every night) and just get more from my money but still spend about the same each month.

Suppose that's what it is all about though as it says on the card itself ''get more from your city lifestyle'' and that's exactly what I'm doing!

Have you tried Choice yet? it's a fantastic restaurant, probably my favorite in Manchester. For more bar type food try Simple bar which is in the Northern Quarter on Tib street. Both of these give you half price as a City Card subscriber.

Has anyone tried the new restaurant Relish that is on City Card? It looks quite nice so we are probably going to try it this weekend.

    Have a lurvley weekend

    Am
  • Thanks for the tip:T
