I booked a villa and flight at a Thomas Cook travel shop
the Villa was with Hoeseasons and the flights were with easy jet
The cost of the flights were for 2 adults and 1 child = 808 Pounds
When i got home if i tried to book flights myself on easyjet website the price was +600 pounds 200 pounds cheaper
Can any one explain why this do they charge for booking ???

They are a business, they sell holidays in order to make a profit.
The lesson is to do your own research before booking.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I think Ryanair charge travel agents (whom they don't like much) higher prices than if you booked direct. That could account for most if not all the difference - the rest of which may be a fee. I don't think Ryanair pay any commission.0

HI,
I had this issue with Flybe & Thomson - quoting over £200 more than if I booked direct ... I asked Thomson why this was & they stated that this was the price Flybe allowed them to sell it at.
You should always book companies like Easyjet yourself - far cheaper.

Thomas Cook aren't charging you extra for booking easyJet flights and can only go by what comes up on our system at time of booking. Prices change so often during the day, they can go up or down... I honestly believe the worst thing you can do after booking a holiday is go online and start looking around to see if you can get it any cheaper!
Kind regards,

Why do you think that?
Is it not good to book direct and save money?0 -
TC are in business to extract as much cash from you as they can - the only time you won't get it cheaper anywhere else is if they have an exclusive deal with a hotel and the flight is with TCs. Their loading for reselling (other operator) holidays is unlikely to be less than 10% (15-20% would not be unusual on many I've priced over the last few years).0

Easyjet prices can and do vary during the day. Have you also included all the baggage charges etc on the easyjet website price?0

The worst thing you can do is go into a travel agent's shop.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

I think your flights would have been booked through the flexibletrips.com system which is the middleman Thomas Cook use to book low cost carriers, they are the ones that put commission on the price of the flights, but it will probably have included hold luggage, checking in at the airport etc all extras that wouldnt have been included in the base price on the easyjet website. Obviously a low cost carrier flight is going to be cheaper doing it yourself as thats the point your doing it yourself, whereas the travel agent is running a business, but at least you will have some comeback or help from the TA is something goes wrong. Like the others say do your research first, not after booking.0
