:pHi guys

well decide to grow some veg in pots so that ds can see where veggies come from.
pots were lush
no apples on the tree but did crop itright back last year so think it needs another year to develope again
my pumpkin is growing well out growing the garden lol

my prob is the yellow courgette (looks like a mini pumpkin) is the onlyone on the plant. Loads of flowers but the flowers are all dying with no other fruit. Have harvested the only 1 - can I freeze it if i chop it up?

Finally the turf - was laid last year but is so patchy this summer have mixed soil and grass seed and have sprinkled it everywhere with out success. The patches that are still there are lush and green. I can't afford more turf any suggestions?

Thank you

i always struggled with yellow courgettes so only grow the green varieties now. the one you have sounds like "Golden Ball" or similar and I had the same problems with fruit hardly setting or dying on the plant while they were still tiny

It sounds as though you're not getting male and female flowers on the courgette at the same time, so the female ones (if there are any) are not pollinated and thus don't set fruit. Time often cures this, hopefully!

You can freeze courgette but as it has such high water content, it will not be crisp and firm upon thawing. Useable in stews etc but not salads.

Re the turf, summer isn't really the right time to be trying to reseed - too hot and dry. Leave it until autumn and then try again, making sure you water it very very regularly, whilst not stepping on it. You might also try covering it with fine netting in case the birds simply ate all the seeds.
