hi,
does anyone have any experience of the 'multi-care' policy by currys? when i rang today they said i can cover any 3 electrical items - TV etc for £14.99 a month. I have a plasma tv, a dvd recorder and a home cinema system and feel a need some cover for them. can anyone recommend somewhere for a warranty or am i better off just saving my money?
thanks,
samantha

You are much better off just saving your money. Under the Sales of Goods Act as long as you fulfil certain conditions (IE you bought them direct form Curry's and they are within a certain age) you can get a refund or replacement. If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!0

Or a repair (which is much more likely given the nature of the goods the OP mentioned).Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
It's only done over the phone, so even I know very little about it. But I think it's a repair plan, and if it has to be replaced, the value is related to its insurable value. So....I dunno.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

£180 a year, is how you have to look at it, but if they are faulty in the first year, then I will assume a standard guarantee will cover it.
You really have to look at the overall cost of the items though, if they total say £3000 then £180 a year, isn't too bad, but if they cost £1000 or less in total then it a lot to pay.
It also depends on how you are financially, for instance if I buy a TV for £300 and it breaks after 2 years, I would be inclined to say sod it, it would only be worth about £100 second hand, I'll get a new one.0 -
Thanks everyone, i don't have a lot of faith in curry's anyway but i was having a panic.
the tv cost £1000 (18 months ago) and the blu-ray/dvd recorder and the home cinema were gifts last xmas but cost about another £1000 for both. so £2000 in total.
the last 2 products were bought from a local dealer who are asking for approx £150 to cover them for the next 4 years. if i dont take out the warranty and they went wrong then would i still be able to take them back to a local shop because it hadn't lasted for a reasonable amount of time or would i have to contact the manufacturer?Sam. x0 -

First port of call should usually always be the retailer. They may try and fob you off but ultimately, your contract is with them.
That being said, sometimes you get a better/faster result from the manufacturersYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Thanks, have you had any dealings with Warranty Direct? If so what was your experience, i presume it was positive?
Meant to say a couple of the items were gifts and when i rang consumer direct they said i didn't have any real rigts as the contract was the buyer, but were no longer in contact.Sam. x0 -
Never used them, just pointing out that Currys are very expensive0
