Just watched it, I think it is a pity that they didn't point out that not all bank accounts are like that, and that the 2 banks that offer accounts are 'normal' accounts, in as much as you don't have to phone and get monies transferred. But maybe they wanted it to sound bad!

I was interested in that CAB bond scheme thing though, could that help someone who is renting privately but needs to get out as it is not good?

Wow, just watched it, i used to like Dom, but i certainly wont be taking anything he says as gospel anymore, you could tell he had about 3 facts memorized and didnt really understand bankruptcy at all

Just watched this on ipplayer after reading your comments and am I so glad that I found this site! I also used to think Dom was pretty good but now will not listen to a word he says. I am only at the start of this process but seem to know a lot more than him already!

Glad it wasn't just me that was disappointed in the quality of "journalism" on the show.

I don't really have an opinion on the bloke because I haven't had a telly for about 8 years so I haven't a clue who he is, but I was visiting my Dad and he had it on while we were chatting. After the piece about BR he gave me a funny look and said "are you sure you know what you're doing?" I was fuming- it took me ages to convince him that I am fully aware of what I'm doing and of what will happen, and that the one show know f**k all.

That's the trouble with the TV, people think everything on it must be true, same as the daily toilet papers.

sadly its not just the one show thats poorly researched most attempts by old auntie beeb are next to useless

many times we've contacted the media to ask why the information they cobble together is so badly done..only bbc radio one bothered to reply a while ago after I heard some serious miss information on the newsbeat updates

I have made a complaint to the beeb! If we all did then they may have to take notice. When we came to rent this house we are in now our landlords thought that the OR managed all our money and we would have to ask them to pay our rent!!!!

See what this sort of representation can do! We have enough discrimination on our backs as it is!

I watched this and it was upseting. I only went BR this week and had I seen this beforehand and not read the advice on here I would not have done it.
They should get there facts straight.
I am going to complain too.

Its terrible they misrepresent it like that-I remember being terrified, bizarrely, that the official receiver would take my couch so it is scary enough what goes on in your own mind without scaremongering like this.

And just as a PS-I have never had any issue in accessing my own funds in my account throughout my BR. I use Barclays

Was this just in York or is it nationwide?

Don't know RA, she was in York, I am going to sit down later and look into a bit more I think as it could be very useful. Will update with my findings.
