Which ipod is it?
My touch did something similar and I had to reset it, but it is specific to each one...
If memory serves me right, with the click wheel ones, you should just be able to connect to the pc which you sync it with and it should unlock it, but I could be wrong...-Scott-

its 8gb ipod touch. can you help0

So you have forgotten the passcode lock to unlock it?
Does this help?
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software.
I had a similar problem a while ago, the battery died after I had removed the passcode and when I turned it on there was a passcode which I couldn't work out...
Interesting, the forum kept the link in the copy and paste...didn't know it did that-Scott-

Open itunes and connect the ipod. When you see it in itunes, then click on restore underneath it

Haven seen this before but from looking around it seems that this may be relevant if it have been jailbroken...
Is there another build you could choose?
I had the choice of a couple of backups...-Scott-

Do you live near an Apple Store?
Make an appointment with the Genius Bar and they will sort it for you (you might need your purchase receipt).

I'd suggest disconnecting the iPod from the PC and putting it into recovery or DFU mode. Once in recovery mode and then connected to the PC it should allow a restore.
There are videos on Youtube that can show you how to put your phone into Recovery/DFU mode.0 -
