Alliance & Leicester direct debit details. Help please.

Hi. I need to set up a direct debit from my A&L current account. Firstly does anyone know if I now need to use Santander's details (I've noticed on my A&L internet banking that my sort code has recently changed), and secondly whether I do or not, what branch address should I use as it's an internet current account?

Thanks in advance for any help.:)

All I will say is I've had a direct debit to a gym fail twice, and I think it's because the sortcode of A&L has now changed to the Santander sortcode. I will be confirming this tomorrow with the gym, but it has caused me embarrassment twice now.

Hmmm, exactly the situation I want to avoid. If you do discover what (a) bank, (b) sort code and (c) address to use so that DD's actually work, please let know!:)

I would say that if you have been advised that your account has been migrated to Santander - and the new sort code suggests it has - then use the new account details. Use Santander's Head Office address if you actually have to enter it manually but normally a bank's address is derived from its sort code automatically.

Remember if you have a 9 digit account number, the first digit is ignored - or rather becomes the sixth digit of the sort code.
