Halifax Clarity Credit Card

Just a quick question to see if someone can clarify a question I have about the above.

You need a Halifax Reward Account to qualify for the above card, I don't have a Halifax Reward Account but I do have a Bank of Scotland Reward Account.

As the Bank of Scotland Brand of HBOS don't seem to have a Clarity Credit Card on their brand, do I qualify for a Halifax Clarity Credit Card on the grounds that I do hold a HBOS Branded Reward Account - altough not a Halifax one ?

Many thanks in advance

You can obtain the card without having a current account. The current account opens the door to the £5 a month "reward" though.

While I can't give a definitive answer, I'd be surprised if their systems would distinguish between Halifax and BOS brands at the moment. I suspect that may change once their systems have merged with the Lloyds platform though.

Perhaps a question worth posting in the 'Credit Cards' part of the forum.

    No you don't.
    Only for the rewards version.
I've just applied for the other version and I don't have any account with them.

You don't need to be an existing customer to apply for the Clarity card.

Are you referring to the 'Rewards' Clarity card...the one with the free fiver each month for spending £300?

The website says a current account "with us". Can you find a definition of "us" in the T&Cs? Hopefully it'll say BoS/Halifax group, or some such like.

If you have a BOS account only, you can only apply for the reward clarity online, not through any other channels.

The Clarity card Ts&Cs (from Halifax website) say
    6. Words with special meanings
'We' means Bank of Scotland plc and any organisation that takes over the benefits of this agreement. 'You' means the person who made this agreement with us.
Assuming "We" and "Us" are the subjective and objective of the same entity then a BoS current account would seem to qualify.

You could ask Halifax to clarify the situation.

Have just applied online for it now and I've been approved, been given an application number and a credit limit
Not sure how they will tie up the application with my BOS Reward Account so they can deposit the free fivers after a £300 monthly credit spend
I will have to await the paperwork through the post
If it all works though - it's got to be one of the best reward credit cards

Whether it works for you or not, it is the best reward credit card I know of. That said, I hope it has worked for you.
