Wallpaper, from a charity shop.... then cut to fit shelf with an overhang at the front... then draw round a round thing (glass, cup)on the back of the overhang to make scallops... or pointy triangle "teeth"..... then cut out & use a hole punch to make little round holes in a pattern. I get quite creative doing this. You can add stickers, sharpie drawings, anything you like to make it look pretty, and it'll last ages.0

Hi Op...id be interested on where to get the linning paper from too, as im going to decorate our pantry soon. At the moment its a dumping ground, and im doing it up from scratch apart from some pine shelves that i already have.It will be lovely to have it being used for what it was intended for. Any decorating/storage ideas etc. would be really helpfull0

i cant help with the lacy edging sorry
but i have just lined all my new kitchen,
both cupbords & dressers with oilcloth off cuts (from a seller on ebay but dunelm does it cheaply)
i store a lot of oils etc in the dresser so paper just doesnt cut if for me
oilcloth is cheap, washable, waterproof & doesnt fray so you just cut it to size
any spills/leaks etc you just wipe with a cloth0 -
We line cupboards with wallpaper.
My sister and I freaked my daddy out when we were younger; we'd cleaned a cupboard out and then needed new paper so we phoned him to ask where we kept it. He thought we were actually wallpapering.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

the lacy edging can be achieved by using those pretty little paper doilies (look on the birthday cake supplies shelves in the supermarket). you just place them on the shelf and crease them downwards, letting as much or as little as you like show. then just place your plain lining paper on top! I can remember my nan doing this when she had open shelving in the kitchen. its cheap too if you can find the doilies in big packs in the pound shop! when they get tatty or dirty its easy to replace them too.0

I got a few packets of lining paper like this from M&S sale last week for £2 each.

I used some Laura Ashley wallpaper last time I did this. It seems to be very good quality and I only needed one roll, which I got from the sale section.
I like the idea of using a cup to make scalloped edges, and oilcloth sounds a really good idea, since my shelves aren't painted and therefore won't wipe clean if anything spills.
It would be even better to get in there and decorate the pantry but I don't think there's much chance of that.0 -
If my memory serves me right (often doesn't.........lol) my Mum lined her pantry shelves and cupboards with wipe over material.........oilcloth type I think.
Made me think about what to do with a pretty oilcloth I bought thinking it would fit our pine table but it didn't and has lurked in the drawer for ages............hhmmmm..........feel a ''project'' coming on................lol
Have to admit to always lining drawers in the bedroom with wallpaperI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Thanks total recall,I think that is what my mum did.
According to my pantry book cream is the colour pantrys are traditionally in victorian times, either that or stained with a dark finish,so I am going to edge it with paper that is cream and white with some that is cream and blue.Find some sky blue gingham to dress the window up a bit.If you don't leap, you'll never know what it is to fly :heartpuls0
