Vending machines - where do I stand???

Many, many years ago, when vending machines were the newest thing........
I was a Naval Apprentice and we had just had the very latest coffee vending machine installed.
I was stood behind two lads from the New Zealand Navy waiting to get a coffee - this machine was like nothing they had ever seen before, real space age technology.
They put their money in, pressed the buttons, and the machine dispensed their coffee - but no paper cup !
They stood in silence for a moment, then one said to the other:
"Jeez - it even ******* drinks it for you !"0 -
Just take anything extra that comes out or give it to someone you know, we had vending machines at college and they usually gave out extra food. Surely its down to the operator to make sure the machine works correctly.0
-
OP, you are not going to be taken to court for eating a bag of crisps that a machine gave you in error. This is really not as big a deal as you think.0
-
You mean the machine didn't give you it in compensation for the extra 5 seconds of your time it took to 'try again' to get your orginal purchase? Sounds like a clear case of compensation for your time to me.0
-
Be a different story if you put £1 and it said you didn't have any credit available. Happend to me before.0

Supply of goods & services act 1982 - service has to be provided with reasonable degree of care. Compensation can be claimed to put you in a situation before the event happened.
Unsolicited goods Act 1971 : Legally, There is no onus on you to send back the unsolicited extra chocolate bar. You can ask the company to collect it at their expense. if you want.
Occupiers Premises act 1967 - The owner/manager of the building premises is responsible for your safety. The unexpected extra chocolate bar popping out the machine might cause you to spill your hot coffee over your family jewels, and thus consistute a hazard to your whole familys lineage.so says another ordinary mug fighting the 1% who own the political machine grinding them down from on high...

For every vending machine like this that they rent out, they also rent out others like we have at work, which turns the spiral once, and charges you regardless of whether anything falls out or not!
Being 6 months pregnant, I am no longer in a position to violently shake it, but thankfully someone usually comes to my rescue. Believe me, for every 1 bag of crisps that you gain, they've probably taken the money of 10 poor hungry souls who ended up with nothing!
Don't feel guilty. EAT THEM!
(or send them to me, particularly mini cheddars, monster munch or niknaks!)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

There is no such Act, I think you are thinking of the Occupiers Liability Act 1957.0 -

My reaction to reading this post was to fortunately not spill my coffee in the aforementioned unfortunate circumstance but I did spit a mouthful onto my desk as well as attracting the attention of colleagues as I had to excuse myself from the open plan area!! Funniest thing I have read in ages!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
And the part about telling me to stand right in front of the machine - legend - i had completely missed that.
Thats why I love this website - everyone is a font of knowledge (as opposed to a fountian of knowledge - grrrr when people say that!!) as well as having a great sense of humour.
Anyway my resolution was to donate the equivalent cost of the crisps and lionbar to charity - £1 extra to a worthy cause.
Thank you all for your replies - a most excellent thread.
