Please help,
At the end of June we went to centre parcs for a family Holiday. When we were packing we realised we were missing a screen for the in car dvd player. We thought maybe it had been packed into one of the cars so thought we would check when we got home. But couldnt find it.
The in car dvd player we had borrowed from friends, so phoned centre parcs and they checked the villa, phoned the police to log the theft/loss and got a claim number.
Then we phoned the insurance company, who sent out a form and asked us to provide them with proof of purchase but my friend cannot find anything for it as they are sure they paid cash for it at Toys R Us. Anyway, I just phoned the insurance company to find out what would happen next as we didnt have proof of purchase and the lady said they wouldnt accept the claim as the item didnt actually belong to us and the policy states 'personal belongings'
We cannot afford to buy another one but our friend shouldnt be out of pocket either as they lent it to us in good faith!
Is the insurance company right in what they are saying?
Please help
