  • When ours was done (October) our FIT provider (Eon) rang and asked us for an updated meter reading, they told us that the reading had to be from within 5 days of the FIT plan being issued, not from installation.
One up to Scottish Power then. My gen. meter said 0.4 on installation and that is what they accepted and paid out on.

and my leccy meter has gone back form 4 days ago by 37kw:beer:

Don't get too used to it. It can be quite depressing on overcast days!

I had a delay in completing the form due to a spell in intensive care over Christmas shortly after installation so our start reading was 40 something.

Does your generation meter go to decimal places? Ours (Iskra) is whole numbers. Either that or I have been misreading it and have only produced a tenth of what I thought I had!!!!

Yes definitely, I've just been to double check (843.5 right now. That's since 7 Jan). It reads about 1.2% above the Inverter which always provides a nice surprise on the rare occasions I look at it. It is an 'Elster'.

I've had a 3.84KW system fitted for 18 days now and the highest reading I've had is 3.81KW. This reading has surprised me greatly as I was expecting some loss of production by the time the system had converted the suns rays into electricity. What are other peoples best readings against system size? For aprox. the first 10 days I was getting readings over 3KW regularly but over the last week it has never gone above 3KW. Looking at previous recent posts this seems to be in line with what others are experiencing.

Hi where are you taking your peak reading from, is it from the inverter.

my dads just had a 6.62kw system fitted using 27 sharp panels and 2 inverters, he wants to see its peak performance. it made 26.3kwh between 10am and 7pm yesterday. cheers

Hi folks. Just thought I'd catch up after having DG ( double glazing ) fitted - thank you Everest.
Would have liked to thank several posters, but " thanks " has vanished from under the posts. Any idea what's happened? Any help appreciated.

Is there an online calculator that lets you play with the aspect and angle to see how it affects the annual output? Thanks
    I think....

When I read about this, I thought how can I measure the size of my roof? I am disabled so it is a little difficult! I then had a brainwave and logged into Google Earth, found my house and used the measuring tool! The measuring tool also helped me establish that the roof at the rear of the property (only overlooked by a field) is within 1 degree of due south. The only thing I could not do on Google is measure the roof pitch, but as I have a bungalow I can easily use a protractor myself.

Just need to do a few calculations now, to take account of the fact that Google cannot measure a pitched roof's size accurately.
