hi all - an odd q I know.
I had the isis solar page open and was contemplating signing up to see if I was eligible.
I left my pc and it seems my kid accidently clicked the continue part.
I'm just curious - does this mean I will just be checked and then contacted? I haven't entered some binding contract or what not. (which I can't see - but I do need to ask)
Could someone shed any light on this for me? With it being a Sunday I can't contact them, but I may give them a ring tomorrow.
Thanks.
I asked them why they want a contract signed when nobody has seen my roof and they informed me that it was so they would irradicate time wasters. But I'm sure this would put most people off as it did me.0 -
Will it be the companies that fit the panels who claim the RHI? E.G Homesun , ISIS etc?0
-
Are you sure you'll be eligible for RHI - my contacts are telling me that nothing is certain and solar thermal may not even be included. Nothing is being guaranteed before the June announcement.
I don`t know but I don`t care if solar panels are excluded. We didn`t come to live here for the payments but they would be a very welcome bonus
The panels are amazing, sun for just a few hours this am and the tank store temperature is 42 with no other input. That compares with the 3.7 kwh generated by the PVs today0 -

However my next door neighbour, same 30sq. metre south facing 30 degree roof. Same rejection by Homesun for no clear reason other than "unsuitable" is still awaiting his cheque more than two months after being promised a refund. There is something badly wrong with Homesun's procedures if that sort of thing is not picked up quicker.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I've been doing a bit of research on the RHI scheme for Solar Thermal panels for hot water. The proposal at the moment from June 2011 is 18p per kWh for 20 years. I've seen on an installer's website and they reckon you could earn up to £400 a year from an installation. They say that on average 25% of all energy costs are hot water. In my case that would mean I currently spend £264 on water heating. I've got plenty of space on my roof so given the above does anyone know how to work out if it would be cost effective for me to install solar panels? The cost of a system would be about £5k.0

There is a lot of confusions about the measuring side for RHI as it is not like FIT where it can be easily established what has been generated/used.
RHI is to do with heat and there will be assessments based upon size and type of installation but for thermal the figures i have seen are not as generious albeit that they do increase by RPI and are payable for 20 years.
Word I also heard just today is that RHI could be delayed by a further few months due to the complexities!0 -
I recently spoke to a Homesun rep who said the £5 monthly fee is to insure the invertor. You would expect if they are getting the FIT payment that they would be able to afford to insure all their equipment. Also who does the equipment actually belong to? The home owner or Homesun? If it's the latter I would expect them to have responsibility to insure all equipment.0

The rep has obviously been fed a corporate position on this, or is simply feeding potential customers(/suppliers ?) BS ... as you say, they have responsibility for their equipment, others have posted that they have contract terms which state that everything and every eventuality is insured by Homesun (I think that there will be situations which your own insurance, if you have it, will be called upon !!), therefore why would you pay to insure their property again ..... I'm pretty sure that claiming more than the insured loss value against two separate policies would be illegal anyway .....
Quite simply, their business model is based on a particular return on investment for each installation from the FiT scheme. If there are any additional costs involved in the installation, such as distance or scaffolding costs, or a reduction in the FiT payment caused by non-optimal installations, an extra charge will be imposed whilst supply & demand conditions allow.
Perhaps, as the question of insurance has been raised, Krish could add it to the growing list of questions requiring feedback which he is developing .....

That's a great way of looking at it and the feel good factor associated with generating all of that hot water yourself is fab. :T
I was just a bit worried that I've heard of a few salespeople recently selling solar thermal on the promise of RHI in the Summer.Target of wind & watertight by Sept 20110 -
OK! I know I've said before that I'm thick, but what are RHI's and what are they for? They just suddenly popped up on the thread from nowhere and I'm lost ( again ).0
