hi, does anyone know if i can change insurers when not due for renewal. thanks

Yes you can
BUT
if existing policy is an annual plan ( you may pay monthly, but many are still annual policies- so effectively on credit terms ) you may find the existing policy does not refund all the partial period / actually charge you some of the remaining months ( if paying annually policy monthly)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Check your policy book for cancellation fees. Most companies will have a fee for cancelling before the 12 months is up.
Your new insurer may pay an amount towards this but you would usually have to pay it upfront and claim it back from them.
You could ring your insurer and ask them what you would be charged for cancelling - make sure you get the name of the person you're talking to and make a note of when you spoke to them.0
