quinn direct insurance

Hi there,

My girlfriend has just brought her first car and she is trying to insure it, Her best quote for 3rd party fire and theft is with quinn direct at £979 as she only has a provisional i dont think that is all too bad.

Only today she was going to go with quinn when she got a call off A-plan and they gave her a quote that was double of quinn directs and informed her that quinn direct had gone into administration and they cant offer her that cover even though she has a quote?

Is there any truth on this?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Quinn Direct did go into administration at some point earlier this year and stopped taking on new customers for a short while but I believe this was reversed. Go to Quinn Direct's website and find out. I'm pretty sure that A-plan are just trying to use tactics to get her to take a policy out with them

Yep, incorrect information from A-plan there, rather worrying from a broker! Quinn have been allowed to take on new UK business again, but they have a poor reputation on this board and elsewhere for quality of service. They were declared insolvent.

Her premium as a provisional driver will be low, expect it to more than double once she passes - the risk significantly increases because she is then driving on her own and not supervised. Quinn did build a repuation for higher increases than others - have a look at some of the older posts about this topic.
  • that's helped greatly, many thanks.

Im sure A-plan are not allowed to use these tactics.

    shocking behaviour

I very much doubt it is anything organised or conspiritorial! Rather, just someone on the phone who does a bit of reading about their industry, but not enough! You are entitled to make a complaint to them of course, but as you are not technicaly a customer it won't go far. It will help them identify a training need though which is good for everyone else.
