Hi all,
I am not over 70 and I am not on any benefits; so I cannot get my insulation done free of charge. I also live in a 2-bedroom detached bungalow.
I have phoned up British Gas, NPower and a few local companies. The best offer, which I have got so far, is from local company, which has quoted me £129-00 for my loft insulation and £129 for my cavity wall insulation. They advised me that there was grant available from something called Greenhouse. I can't remember the exact name but anyway, the company are sending someone to my place to give me a firm quote on Friday. I have also get a couple of different companies coming as well to give me a firm quote.
My query is whether £258 is a good price for getting insulation or whether this can be beaten elsewhere by better deals.
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Check with your energy saving trust advice centre 0800 512012 and/or your local authority they will give you the low down on price and timescales.
There are loads of offers on at the minute dependant on how desperate the installers are to keep their staff employed during the summer - it's a tough time for these guys through the recession too.
£129 isn't a bad price - a fraction of the normal cost and you'll save that in just over a year in reduced fuel bills. Just a word of caution - if you call out loads of companies to do surveys you might save £10 - £15 but every surveyor that comes out that doesn't get the job loses that because they only get paid if they get the "sale". Maybe you could ring around for a verbal quotes instead?????Target of wind & watertight by Sept 20110
