Holiday destination for 2007??

My partner and I are looking to book a holiday for the beginning of August2007.

We went to Majorca this Aug and Menorca the year before, both fantastic holidays but we would like to try somewhere else.

We will be taking our 4 children aged 15, 10, 8 & 8 so we need somewhere suitable for children. We want a hotel rather than a villa so they can make plenty of friends and we would like to be near a nice sandy beach and enough places to visit.

We have no more than £3000 to spend and we are hoping to get half board for that. We got two child free places last year so that should help keep the cost down. (flying from Manchester)

Any ideas anyone, not sure about the country, never mind the resort ot hotel yet. We'd be gratful for any suggestions.

Thank you!! Thank you!!

Sarah xx

Crete - Blue Aegean, Gouves (google it for their own site)

Family run - family oriented small (45 apts), 50 yards from small beach. We have gone for the past few years 'cos the kids are completely safe and you know that they are ok. Everyone looks out for everyone's kids, it's like one big community

We went at beginning of July and it was about 800 for the flights (Thomson - from manchester) and the same again for the room (we booked direct) for two weeks.

Only down side I can see is that there may not be much for the 15 year old to do apart frominternet corner ;) - younger kids will have a fantastic time

EDIT: Most of their business is people returning!!! Can't get a better recommendation than that.

Previously we have been to the Hotel Marelen in kalamaki, Zante. Slightly bigger hotel and resort, but again I would totally recommend it.
:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood

Louis Creta Princess in Crete. We have been going there for a week each year for years. All inclusive. Through first choice or Eclipse direct.

Keep watching the prices. This year to go the prices fell for booking it up in February and kid places appeared that were not there before.

Food great, pools geat. We don't see our 9 year old. He always makes friends they go off to lunch together.

Have you thought about Turkey? We have been there for the last 5 years with our 3 children and have gone to some really good 5* all-inclusive hotels. Some hotels have child age up to 15yrs some have apartment choice. From experience cos family is based on 2ad2kids? always difficult to get reasonable priced holiday.
There are a number of new Hotels in Lara Beach (Fly to Antalya) . Transfer time is really good 30mins - 1hr depending on hotel. I would personally recommend the Topkai Palace, Kremlin Palace next door, The Atlantis in Belek, Delphin Palace. Depending on budget the facilities and standard of food, accommodation etc is fabulous and well worth the "extra money" from a self-catering price for example. Topkapi, and Kremlin are classed as "Ultra-allinclusive" meaning that all a carte restaurants, ice cream international drinks water sports excluding motorised are included. All-inc available until 2.00am. Also has its own night club. Topkapi has its own bakery and has midnight buffet of soup/pasta bread ideal for the teenagers! There is a private beach and gameland - playstations, internet access, pool, darts etc too keep them happy and very safe - private gated complex. New shopping centre opened in Lara beach last year. Water park within the two complexes. Hope this helps can be viewed at https://www.kesit.com or thomas cook. Going back again this year.
  • Wow, thanks everyone, I'm going to do some reaserch into these places now. I was abit put off Turkey because of the shingly rather than sandy beaches, are they all shingly over there?
  • For that kind of money you should get a great holiday in somewhere a bit different like Mexico or even Brazil(the new package holiday hotspot)

Have a look on the Thomson website they have some great deals

They might have some good deals but i doubt if you can get a Mexico holiday for 6 people in peak season,on the board they want for £3000,at least not booking now.Probably looking more towards £4000 plus

Not too bad in the antalya area been to Belek and Lara beach. Still able to walk without fear of getting feet ripped off! Not really a problem as all of these hotels mentioned have sunloungers provided with cushions and plenty of pool loungers. However if its sandcastles! might be a bit difficult. Weather will be really hot in August but plenty of airconditioned areas in hotels and shaded areas on beach provided. October mid term is still hot enough for beach hol of your more flexible. Good luck.

I came back from Turkey last week - would not choose to go there again! It was all inclusive but pretty poor.

I am still suffering from all the mosi bites!!!

I have been lucky to go to Crete, Dubai and Turkey this year and Crete and Dubai were insect free.
