How much cheaper for a new car in august?

Hi
I am looking to buy a new Kia Rio this month as i am about to have a baby and need a car, my husband wants to buy a brand new car as we have always had trouble with second hand ones and he thinks having a 7 yr warranty will be the peace of mind we need.
I wanted the cheapest bog standard 1.4 petrol but these are in short supply due to the new model coming out in september, but i have been offered the diesel engine 1.5 crdi, 10 plate for £8700 (inc. free delivery) at a reduced catalogue price which is normally around £9200 and i can have that in 7 days (which means it is obviously on the forecourt, and not new from factory)
What i want to know is how much less should i be looking to pay for a car that will have a new model coming out in september?
Hope this makes sense as i am not very good with cars!!:)
Thanks in advance

If you are trying to buy a car, which you admit is in short supply, which is due for replacement in Sept, you are not in a very good bargaining position. The dealer has the upper hand. He knows that you want that car, so he is halfway there before you start.
Wait until the new model is in the show rooms, then he will be willing to listen to you as he will want to get rid of any stock of the "old" model.0 -
Is it actually a new, facelifted model?
If so, make sure you get a huge amount off the 'old' one. The values for them will plummet, you'll get hit hard when you come to sell it on.0 -
Hi, it isnt actually a face lifted new model, it is the same but with a 11 plate, i have since enquired with another dealer and can get the 11 plate at the same price as the 10 plate if i am willing to hold on till september.
I can get either for £8500 (£150 delivery charge though) which makes the other deal not sound so good, the dealer i spoke to today said that the 11 plate would depreciate less by £500 so im thinking if i phone back the other dealer and offer £8000 and see what they say, it should be about the right price to pay for the 10 plate?!0 -

I think you mean a 60 plate, not an 11 plate.;)0 -
I just put the basic details into Drivethedeal - and this is showing a price of £7,400 a £1,100 reduction.
If you have no part ex - try some of the brokers. They search nationwide rather than based on limited local stock.0 -

Thanks for the advice, could you give me an idea of what sites to look on please?0 -
I used Jonathan Lawless at carfile.com - lovely chap, you can ring him and ask best deal available, no obligation. Had my new car delivered to my door from the main dealer about 120 miles away through carfile. Its actually better than going into a car showroom and signing up, as distance selling gives you extra rights. Not sure if they do Kia, but ring him anyway, Im sure he will try to help.
