I got an on sreen message from Microsoft recently informing me that ThreatFire had stopped working. I'm able to run a scan but as far as I can tell ThreatFire isn't running on my laptop. Can someone please tell me how to resolve this?

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -
I wasn’t able to install HijackThis as it was saying: another instillation is in progress. You must complete that instillation before continuing with this one.
Which reminds me, when I downloaded Malwarebytes a while back I didn’t uninstall Avast as I wasn’t sure how to do it, I’ve not got back to this since as I’ve not had time. Can you tell me how to uninstall it?0 -
Reboot and try again:idea:0

sounds like you just clicked too many times on the install for hijack this.
Malwarebytes is a spyware program and can be run alongside avast antivirus as far as I know.0 -
if you get the 'another install is taking place' type message, open Task Manager and look for msiexec.exe (windows software install manager) in the processes - for some reason this doesn't like to shut down properly after some software installs/updates. Just force it to close by using End Process button.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer0

Sorry for not getting back to this thread sooner.
I’m still getting another instillation is in progress message after closing msiexec.exe. I hope I’ve done this right. I opened the Task Manager and after finding msiexec.exe I right clicked on it and then clicked End Process.
While I’m at it can you tell me how to uninstall downloaded files like HijackThis as I’ve noticed a couple I've have never used? Do I just click on Remove From List?0 -
Can you still not get hijack this working?:idea:0
