Conned by Greek Car Hire Company! Help?

Hi,
We recently returned from Athens after hiring a car through an online broker. Issue is that the car rental company has charged my Egg Visa £650 without my authorisation. When I questioned this they said it was because of damage to the rear seats by my babies (don't have babies) and because of unpaid parking fines ( did not get any!).
I paid the broker up front through Paypal but the car rental agent took an old style carbon swipe of my card as a security when I took the car. I did not sign anything.
I returned the car and the agent checked over the car and said all was fine and she ripped up the swiped paper and gave it to me for disposal.
I have contacted Egg to get a dispute raised but they don't seem to have any urgency. They are sending out a form but seemed keen for me to contact the rental company to sort myself to save them the hassle. I really cant be bothered calling and emailing a car rental company that are obviously crooks so what should I do?
Thanks for any advice

Seems the Greeks are ready to steal our money this summer. No seriously, raise a dispute quickly with your card issuer and paypal0

i assume egg is a credit card?
Hopefully what they are sending you is a section 75 claim form from the consumer credit act. Under this they are held jointly and severably liable for fraudulent transactions etc so you should get a refund from them.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Don't worry OP the Greeks have conned the Germans out of a hell of a lot more this year.......;)0

Lol, I love the proper saying of that. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
