Washing machine leaving grey marks on clothes

I have a hotpoint which is 6 years old this month so no insurance left now. Recently I have noticed that after each cycle some of my babies clothes have grey round marks on them which were not there before I washed them. Also I can't remove the stains with vanish.

I was advised to run a boiling hot wash to clean any dirt from the machine but this didn't work and still left marks on clothes today.

The machine still looks brand new on the outside and I've never had any problems before now. Would it be better to just cut my loses and buy and new machine?

Thanks.

I'm guessing, possibly it's the door seal that's decompossed, can't imagine anything else.

Possibly grease marks from the drum bearings leaking into the drum?

We used to get this, caused by sludge from the washing liquid I think.

If you gently look under the door seal, you may find some sludge hiding.

We were advised to do an empty wash at max temp once a month, with a dishwasher tablet added. This has cured our problem.

    Good luck

I did the empty wash at max temp yesterday but used our normal bio wash powder I will have another look under the door seal now.

Did mine yesterday hottest temp and a couple of good squirts of bleach
  • Hi Lucy,
I had this problem as well, and as previous poster mentioned I found sludge in the door seal. I now use a product which I purchased in Morrisons which is a machine cleanser cost £3 ish which can be used every couple of months but white vinegar mentioned above or soda crystals would probably be as good. I think its because a lot of the products now are put inside the machine, its only since I started using a product with a dosing ball that I've had this problem.
    Regards
