New camera and Microsoft Office help - two in one!

Killing two birds with one stone here, student life is finally kicking in!

So, I really don't know that much about cameras apart from the Panasonic Lumix I've had for the past 4 years that's taken about 15,000 photos has bid its' farewell on me - smack bang in the middle of summer when I need it most! Typical.
Bring on a new camera? I've been doing some bog standard research into the obvious shops (I'd prefer to buy it in a shop, but I'll look around online too) into buying a new camera. I'm not too fussy with what the camera is, but I'm a typical 'worth the money' person. I've got around £100 to spend on one, and about £50 to spend in Tesco Clubcard vouchers too. If you guys could possibly point me in the right direction, that would be lovely.
I'm looking for a slightly 'techy' camera, because I like using the SCN modes (especially sunsets). Apart from that, being a student, I really require a camera that I can (hopefully not too often) drop, and it won't smash into thousands of pieces... Durable! Lets just say, my last one has sand stuck in the lens.. oops.
ANY advice is lovely, I've seen the Samsung PL57 around, but I can't seem to find a SINGLE detailed review on it!

My other bit of help I could do with is; where is the cheapest place to buy Microsoft Office (I really only use Word, Excel and Powerpoint, possibly Publisher)? Especially with the University people starting soon, I know places start doing deals on things like this.

Sorry I'm a bit useless, I wish I had the guts to just go and buy a camera and hope for the best, but I'll try here first. :)

Thanks. :A
