The freeview stations.
Lucky them! Loads of Road wars!
Do you really think that freeview stations would exist if BBC was payper view?:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I say: ditch the licence fee. It's another poll tax at a time when we really don't need one. I would accept advertising on BBC, as long as it is in-between programmes and not in the middle of them. The rest of the BBC money can still be in the form of a government grant or from sales of programmes. All this talk of the BBC being some kind of national institution is sentimental rubbish. Besides, if you want quality news, there is nothing that beats Radio 4.
Who do you think pays for Radio 4?:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Here's a solution;
The BBC tax can be doubled or tripled and all those that want to watch the BBC and think it is great can pay the higher fee so that they get the quality programming they are accustomed to. Those that don't want to watch the BBC don't have to pay the tax and can be stopped from watching any BBC channels. That way the BBC will still be getting lots of money, enough to compete with the other channels, the viewers will get to see their favorite BBC programmes and the executives will still get the huge pensions and extras they deserve. The riff-raff can stick to their Sky subscription and right-wing Murdochian world-view if they must.0 -

I would be quite happy to do this, I would pay 2,3 een 4 times over for the VFM that I get from the BBC. Would pensioners though? I hope they would get a cheap rate ( ie as it is)
I would hope though that non subscribers would not be able to pick up any radio or Internet.
Is the technology there for this?:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Under current rules you do not need to pay for a TV license to use the BBC website, watch programmes on BBC Iplayer as long as they have finished transmitting on air.0 -
