Payment Insurance Claim for Sickness

Hello!
I have 2 Credit Cards, one with Barclays, and one with Halifax, both have Payment Protection paid on them.
Last November, I was advised by my Doctor, that I needed a hysterectomy - without going into detail, I had been on the pill for years after the birth of my daughter, which, 'controlled' the awful monthly backaches etc., However, when I met my hubby, as he had the snip! I was told that as it was not needed as a contraceptive, and it would be better for my health to come off the tablets, which I did.
Everything went swimmingly for a while, then the 'monthly' back aches etc., came back, so was advised by the doctor to go on 2 sets of tablets, to be taken every month when needed! - which was great, however, during the latter part of last year the tablets stopped working, hence the recommendation for the hysterectomy, which took place in February this year.
I was off work for 8 weeks, and the first paypacket I received, was just basic wage, which was fine...I covered the bills, however, never being off work for such a long time, the following month's pay packet what just SSP - and what a shock that was!
The day I got paid, I went to both banks and enquired about my Payment Protection, both banks then sent me the forms for employer etc., and Doctors.
Within 5 weeks, Barclays had paid out - I assumed it just covered the months payment, so was pleasantly surprised when a letter arrived saying I qualified, and the sum of £2199.00 was being paid off my card!:j:j
The Halifax however, wanted my Doctor to fill out more forms, which they did, and kindly sent back for me (invoicing them!) I received a letter today, saying that under the terms and conditions (which are the same as Barclays!) I do not qualify, as I knew of my existing medical condition when I took out the PPI!
I knew when I took the PPI's out that it covered Medical Conditions, but assumed! that it included those such as diabetes, asthma, heart, blood, etc., so what they are saying is that a Womans Monthly bits and pieces are now a 'Medical Condition'! lol!
Seeing as Barclays have already paid out, would I stand a chance 'challenging' the Halifax on this one?
Thanks

Hi and welcome
Golly you have been through the wars haven't you?
Sorry to hear that and hope your feeling better now.
Glad Barclays paid out during your claim, shame we cannot say the same thing for Halifax.
So yes I would definately give it a go on reclaiming on this, you do seem to have good reasons to do so, and its now also deprived you of money and been a worthless policy to you.
To do this, complete the FOS questionnaire, these questionnaires were recently issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) and in replacement of the first reclaiming template letter on this site.
Complete and save a copy for yourself, then send one to Halifax, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, keep on at them if you have to.
The Questionnaire - link below, further down the page, as Stage one:

Try to get post for proof of posting at your post office. Good luck.
LOL, as I posted the TV advert via Halifax came on :rotfl::rotfl::D.
Please keep us posted, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
