Hey all,
i know that if you don't acknowledge a debt in 6 years, they can't claim the money back....
does this apply to student loans too?
thanks in advance!

Wouldn't think so - I also beleive student loans can not normally be written of by bankruptcy.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

65 I think it is. Or after 25 years. Is there not an article about student loans featured on the email this week?"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

Don't the rules regarding student loans change depending on when you took the loan out and whether your loan was sold off? The rules on my student loan were different to my friend's who graduated a few years behind me.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Wouldn't it be considered as being owed to the crown? in which case i dont think there is any time limit...0

A lawyer friend told me that it doesn't matter if you "acknowledge" the debt again after a period of no-one asking for the money. Or indeed after the 6 years has passed. He reckons it's dead after 6 years come what may. There are exceptions such as all debt written "under deed" I think was the terminology. I think that's mortgages etc. There are other exceptions too I think such as money owed to the Inland Revenue.
And aren't student loans specifically excluded from bancruptcy provisions, or is that yet to come?CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
