Gas kettle or Electric kettle

Hi Folks
Whilst reading threads I have several times come across the question "Is it cheaper to boil water using an electric kettle or a kettle on a gas hob?".
I know there are variables involved but has there ever been an answer to this question?
Just curious.....
Cheers, Mark

It's cheaper to boil a gas kettle as long as you give the kettle at least 15% more water than you need0
