Stone damage to parts like condensors etc aint covered by warranty's. The same way a tyre isnt covered if you get a puncture.

Very probably but if Hyundai are going to insist on these receipts for any warranty work the OP should still try and get hold of them.

Does it say that there? Can't find it.

If that is the case, its hardly worth the inspection.

No, but as its possibly stone damage and not a mechanical failure then there is no reason why it should be covered. They need the ambient air to make them work - which is why they are placed infront of the normal radiator.

Took this into a Hyundai dealer and it seems to be a component fault after all. In fact they tell me it is both the compressor and condenser which is leaking. This is unusual, especially for a 35k mileage car. I wonder if this explains the oil vapour smell in the interior?

Anyway despite the car not having the servicing done with Hyundai and only the book stamped, they are willing to cover it with only a month to go on the 5yr warranty! This would have cost me £1500 in all. The car can't be worth much more than that!

Good result but would you think I was being too cynical if I suggested getting that confirmed in an email lest there is some hitch and the warranty doesn’t cover it?

The dealer required confirmation from Hyundai central office before they went ahead, so I am reasonably confident. Surprised how easy it was really. They did check my paperwork during the inspection, which I kept in a neat folder. Suppose it is the 25k mileage!
