Hi,
Does anyone have experience of working with these guys or companies of this ilk? We've been on the market for a while now and are currently marketing at 10% below valuation. There's a real a lack of viewers in our area (we've recently changed from Countrywide to Slater, Hogg and Howison) so we're considering approaching them as we can see the house we're interested in slipping away...

The advice normally given on these forums is to avoid there 'we buy your house for you' companies. Either they are scams with up-front fees that you pay but a sale never takes place, or they initally offer what you consider to be a reasonable price for your house, only to drop their offer significantly very close to exchange of contracts."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Funnily enough, the latter is described on this co's website as being a downfall of the traditional method of sale......0 -

Thanks for the speedy responses. I'm in Glasgow...not really relevant though...maninthestreet wrote: »The advice normally given on these forums is to avoid there 'we buy your house for you' companies. Ah, this is the sort of advice I'm after. I am, of course, sceptical of the promise of a catch-free quick sell so looking to see where I may leave myself open. I'm not interested in paying anything upfront so if they're looking for any sort of fee I'll walk away.T-Mobile Default - Default removed thanks to CISAS intervention!

These companies are almost invariably scammers. In most cases it is much better to simply drop the price yourself if you want a quick sale.poppy100

I'd say it was, considering the co. you mentioned are from England-shire. The fact that they'd have to follow the Scottish Legal System would reduce the possibility of them dropping the price close to conclusion of missives, but by the same token, the likelihood of them hiring a solicitor North of the Border in order to facilitate the purchase of your one property might be too much bother for them. Either that or they'll start the process, then drop out altogether later on.
I'm from East Scotland, but it seems to me that the two agents you've listed aren't in either of the big networks of agents in and around Glasgow..... no?0 -

Gspc? Re/max?
Edit: I typed them in all caps. MSE corrected my grammar, but doesn't take account of business names....0 -
SHH I counted 25 sales offices on their website
Countrywide 16
GSPC for Glasgow City Centre, East End, West End, North & South Sides shows 156 members....
I thought RE/MAX would have had more in the City itself, but they have a strong presence in Lanarkshire; 6 offices in the city, 15 in Lanarkshire, and more in other counties surrounding the city.0
